Meet the 'Kitchen Queen'

I must have been 3-4 yrs old, when, once, an aunt asked me, ‘What milk do you drink?’ and I had replied ‘the packet milk’. My aunt persisted, ‘But whose milk is it?’ and I had said ‘Oh…The Milkman's milk’

I grew up to realize that there were many more such answers in my life. To share a few:

My favorite dal(lentil) was ‘My Mom’s dal’(and now 'my sister's dal').  (It’s the most ‘out of the world dal’, who cares about what lentil combination goes into it!)
My favourite food is fried potato stolen from my brother’s plate
My favourite ice cream is the one shared with my best friend, who kept me busy in  a conversation & ate up the entire tub, without my realizing it.

I was recently asked to share some of my ‘secret recipes’ on this blog. Thought it would help greatly if my readers first, have an idea about my ‘secret experiences’ in the kitchen.

Once I was cooking at a friend’s place, while she was out teaching an Art of Living program. Her husband Samir(name changed), was in the kitchen at that point of time(in a pretty bad mood) fixing the kitchen tap.

As I added a frozen cutlet into the hot oil in the pan, the pan caught fire!!!

I lifted the pan by its handle, turned off the gas & started jumping up and down (holding the pan in my hand) and said ‘Samir, Samir, DO SOMETHING’.

What is God's Job?

One day a king called all his ministers & asked, “Everyone has some work, the doctor looks after patients, teacher teaches, gardener looks after the garden, what is Gods job?”

There is a lot of discussion, but the King is not satisfied. Finally the King gives the head minister 2 days time to come up with a satisfactory answer.

The worried minister goes  & sits in a field at the end of the second day.

A shepherd boy sees him & enquires about the cause of his worry. The minister is reluctant to discuss. The shepherd says, “At least share because sharing will make u feel lighter.”

The minister tells him what the king wants to know. The shepherd says, “Is that all! Tell the King the shepherd boy knows the answer.”

Looking for Heaven

Once a warrior came to a renowned Saint with a quest for higher spiritual experience.

'Vishalakshi Mantap' : International Art of Living Centre,
Bangalore, India
The Warrior asked the Saint, ‘Oh Saint! What is heaven & what is hell? How do I gain higher spiritual knowledge while being surrounded by this materialistic world? Please guide me’

The Silent Saint burst into a laughter & said, ‘You, You wish for higher knowledge, someone who only knows how to fight & kill people! GO AWAY. Spiritual knowledge is not for you!”

Taken aback by this scornful remark, the warrior persisted, ‘Oh Wise one! I want to know how to maintain this balance between my duties & the call of my soul. This is why I am here’.

Watch out for a Sign!!

Call it God or Divinity or Guru's Grace(krupa) or give it any name you like, there is an unseen presence that adds meaning to our lives & brings faith in the purpose of our presence on this planet.

Since the beginning of this journey on the spiritual path in June 1996, I have had several beautiful (and unbelievable) experiences that reinforced my faith on this invisible higher presence!

In this blogpost, I wish to share one such experience (my personal favourite) with you all:

November 2010 to March 2011, I was on my 4th trip to Israel for teaching the Art of Living programs. On a sunny January afternoon, I was sitting alone looking up at the clear sky. My hostess had a beautiful house on Ussishkin street in Tel Aviv overlooking Yarkon river. Wow, What a sight! The Huge glass doors, looked like a 'doorway to heaven'.

It was not one of my best days & a telephonic conversation with my mother had unleashed a series of sad thoughts. Not everything was going right in my life, at that point of time. And as I sat in the house, alone, looking at the clear blue sky, tears rolled my eyes & I experienced a desperate moment when I so badly wanted someone to appear from somewhere & tell me that everything was going to be alright!

It was a moment, when our faith comes crashing down & we feel that things will never change for the better. I remember staring at the big wide sky, crying & praying & saying out loud to the Lord, ‘God, please tell me that everything is going to be alright. Say something, give me SOME SIGN, ANY SIGN, so I will know that you are there’.
Original Picture : 15/01/2011

And right IN THAT MOMENT, as I was staring at the big wide clear blue sky, I saw the colour of the clouds change & as if on an auto-mode instruction each cloud obediently took its respective place & FORMED INTO A RAINBOW! (See picture above)

No rain, a sunny afternoon & a rainbow staring in my face!!

I was too shocked to say anything; completely awestruck; I mean, seeing something like this happen in a movie is a different thing, but was this actually happening to me? I immediately took a picture with my cell phone to keep as evidence, incase I later thought that this was all only an illusion(see picture attached to this post) & mailed the picture to a dear friend who was right at that moment taking a picture of that very rainbow for me!

That day a beautiful connection was formed. A connection that would stay with me as a constant reminder of the Eternal Divine presence in my life!

This 15th January 2013, it will be exactly 2yrs, since ‘God’s promised presence’; These past 2yrs, I have lost people who were very close to my heart & found blessings that I simply cannot stop being grateful for!

Here on, my blog श्रीG(Shreeji) will be a platform to share several events that have been the cause of a beautiful transformation in my life!

A Whole New World !!

Who's a Friend?
A Friend is
a 'push' when you have stopped,
a 'chat' when you are lonely,
a 'guide' when you are searching,
a 'smile' when you are sad,
a 'song' when you are glad.

And Whats this thing called "Blog"?

A Blog is the result:
of a 'chat' with a 'guide' who 'smiled' & 'pushed' to put into words the 'song' in my heart!!!

An inspiration to write for the world, led me to the Blogger's Conference & to the birth of "SHREEJI" : My first BLOG Post!
